BEUMER supplies 47 bucket conveyors to India:
Flawless technology convinces Grasim Cement Group

Beckum, 11 April 2007. With production of some 35 million tons of clinker every year and a market share of 25 percent, Grasim Cement is India's largest cement producer. In the wake of the economic rebound for the construction industry there, the company's success is constantly on the rise. As far back as 2005 Grasim took over the Ultra Tech Cement Works from Larsen and Toubro. The BEUMER Group in September of 2006 landed the major assignment from the Grasim Cement Group of supplying a global package of 47 bucket conveyors.

It is not without reason that the BEUMER Group is amongst the market's leading suppliers of bucket conveyors and, in particular in the field of high-performance bucket conveyors, has done pioneering work. In completing the major order for Grasim Cement, the internationally active family-owned company has provided proof of its market leadership.
The order for the Grasim Cement Group includes high-capacity belt bucket elevators and central chain bucket elevators in varying sizes and with different capacities. With them BEUMER supplied six high-capacity belt bucket elevators that with center distances of 145.65 metres are amongst the world's highest. Two such high-capacity belt bucket elevators together charge one of three high-capacity kilns with raw meal. With a bucket width of 1,000 millimetres its transport capacity lies around 550 tons of raw meal per hour. The bucket elevators are furnished with BEUMER ST. 2.500 Vulkan Extra conveyor belts. The bucket distance is 740 millimetres when filled to about 74 percent.
The BEUMER company has ever since 1997 operated high-capacity belt bucket elevators for the Grasim Group that, with a height of 122.5 metres, were at that time the highest in the world. They are still running without a flaw today to the utmost satisfaction of the customer and without any belt misalignment and elongation. The first inspection was only conducted in 2003 after six years of operation and at BEUMER's request.
Besides its flawless technology, its innovative capability and its broad spectrum of competencies, Grasim Cement also turned to BEUMER because of its comprehensive customer service. This includes immediate proximity to the customer that is ensured by the Indian subsidiary, BEUMER Technology India Pty in Mumbai. In addition, the local BEUMER presence offers the customer a price advantage with local manufacture of buckets, shaft casing, elevator heads and feed boots.
